Former NYPD officer gets 25 to life for killing wife

THE BRONX - A former NYPD officer received the maximum penalty of 25 years to life in prison today for killing his wife.

Eddy Coello was found guilty of second-degree murder last month for strangling his wife, Tina Adovasio, and dumping her body in Yorktown Heights in Westchester. Before the judge handed the sentence down, Adovasio's sister-in-law, mother and co-worker gave statements, calling Coello a monster who abused Adovasio repeatedly. They also thanked the jury for finding him guilty.

Coello also spoke, apologizing for killing Adovasio, who he says he loved and still misses.
