Friends and family of the 28-year-old Bronx man killed in a police cruiser-dirt bike chase last week gathered at Our Lady of Angels Parish today

THE BRONX - Friends and family of the 28-year-old Bronx man killed in a police cruiser-dirt bike chase last week gathered at Our Lady of Angels Parish today for a final farewell.

Family and friends attended the wake for Eddie Fernandez this weekend.

The chase happened in Hunts Point last Saturday. Police say the chase started when they tried to approach 26-year-old Adalberto Gonzalez for riding his dirt bike without a helmet or license plates. Gonzalez ditched his own bike and jumped on the back of Fernandez?s. The police car rammed into the back of that bike and the two men were thrown. Gonzalez survived.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says the incident is being investigated. The two officers involved have been taken off patrol.
