THE BRONX - The fight over gay marriage became heated as thousands turned out for state Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr.'s Rally to Protect Marriage.

Diaz Sr. led the charge saying while he has no problem with homosexuality, he believes marriage should be between a man and a woman.

The senators grandaughter, Erica Diaz, who is a lesbian, led her own protest of the rally waving rainbow flags with a few dozen others. Grandfather and grandaughter met on the steps of the Bronx courthouse later and embraced in front of attendees.
