GED students mastering the art of cooking

THE BRONX - A Bronx chef has taken it upon himself to pass on his culinary passion and skills to a group of local GED students.

Every Wednesday, certified culinary chef Chris Hammonds and about five students prepare free meals for the Highbridge Community Life Center lunch program.

Hammonds says regardless of whether his students will become chefs or choose a different path in life, he hopes they'll take away the valuable skills they've learned.

The free meals are served at the Sacred Heart Church auditorium at 1 p.m. through Aug. 19.
