THE BRONX - A so-called "carmageddon" has begun for drivers heading across the George Washington Bridge.
The Port Authority shut down three out of four New Jersey-bound lanes on the bridge's upper deck to replace hundreds of steel beams.
The closures will happen during the overnight hours through the end of the year.
