Gov. Paterson issues pardons to 24 immigrants

THE BRONX - Gov. David Paterson (D-N.Y.) announced today that he has issued pardons to 24 immigrants.

Paterson issued the pardons to immigrants who committed criminal offenses in the past to prevent their deportation. He says his administration reviewed more than 1,000 applications and found that federal immigration laws are too harsh.
