THE BRONX - The government shutdown has entered into its fourth day.
House Republicans are now saying they want to restore government operations on a piecemeal basis and they want the 800,000 furloughed government workers to get back pay when the shutdown ends.
The government's partial shutdown also puts the nation at risk of defaulting on its loans in mid-October. House Speaker John Boehner says he won't allow a default when the debt ceiling vote hits later this month.

Boehner also says the Republicans are willing to make compromises to avoid defaulting.
President Obama has stressed the importance of fixing the shutdown and dropping concessions related to 'Obamacare.'
