THE BRONX - Carmen Santiago is outraged after her grandson was bitten by a rat in her apartment, located along the Cross Bronx Expressway near Haviland Avenue.

She says she woke up to find blood on her 21-month-old grandson, who was sleeping in his bed. The grandmother then noticed a big rat and saw that her grandson had been bitten on his finger.

She took him to a hospital, where he was treated and is now doing fine. Santiago says she now needs a new place to live.

She claims to have called the Health Department, which confirmed that she has a rat infestation. She says she has reached out to the landlord several times with no response.
