Grandparents raising grandchildren worried about funding cuts

THE BRONX - Many Bronx residents are calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) to restore funding that has been cut for grandparents who raise their grandchildren.

Through state budget cuts, about $927,000 will be cut from the program, eliminating 13 supportive services which include case management, legal advocacy and educational and recreational programs for grandparents and their grandchildren.

Those who may be affected by the cuts in resources for the Grandparent Family Apartment Programs say they're not sure how they will be able to cope without the essential support services they're receiving now.
