THE BRONX - An independent supermarket will soon replace what was once the Globe Theater on Pelham Parkway.

Green Apple market has entered the final stages of construction and is expected to be open in a few weeks. The theater has been vacant for years.

Joe Thompson, of the White Plains Road Business Improvement District, says the market will be unique because items for sale will accommodate the eclectic ethnicities that make up the neighborhood.

Store managers say they plan on hiring 30 to 34 Bronx residents to work at Green Apple.
