Gun buyback program to be held in the Bronx

THE BRONX - Bronx officials plan to host a gun buyback Saturday, encouraging residents to drop off firearms in exchange for money.

Police say the buyback program has been successful in previous years. Residents who turn over an illegal handgun will receive a $200 debit card for each weapon. People turning in operable rifles and shotguns will receive $20 bank cards.

The program will be held on June 4 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. at three locations. The locations are Grace Temple at 2401 Marion Ave., Bronx Pentecostal at 1755 Watson Ave. and Our Lady of Grace at 3985 Bronxwood Ave.
