THE BRONX - Bronx beer lovers have something to toast to: a new brewery is opening up in the borough.
Gun Hill Brewing is coming to Allerton, and it's the first beer company to open in the Bronx in half a century. It's expected to be up and running within the next few weeks.
The company plans to start off with 2,000 barrels in its first year of production. It will be manufacturing and distributing its ale and lagers to restaurants throughout the city.
"We have unique equipment that will allow us to make beer with pronounced character. We're going to have hot flavor in our beers, top-quality ingredients," says Chris Cheehan, who is behind the operation, along with his two partners.
Gun Hill Brewing plans to celebrate its grand opening in mid-March.
