GW Bridge fatality causes heavy delays

NEW YORK - (AP) - A fatal accident on the George Washington Bridgeclosed the span's westbound lanes for two hours.

The bridge's operator, the Port Authority of New York and NewJersey, says one one-hour delays in both directions continued pastWednesday's morning rush.

The agency says a car collided with a truck at 5:20 a.m. on thewestbound upper level.

The car driver was killed, and his passenger was injured. Shewas taken to Hackensack Medical Center. Her condition was notimmediately known.

The agency says one westbound lane was reopened at 7:15 a.m. Itsaid congestion was heavy eastbound because of rubbernecking.
