THE BRONX - A local, nonprofit basketball team brought together its players' families for a special event.

The Harlem HOOPS Avengers, whose motto is "True talent is the desire to get better,"  hosted a family day at Lafayette Park.

Coach Francisco Rivera says that the best part of Sunday's occasion is that it is all about family, since they are the ones who brought the food and organized the event.

One of the players says their favorite aspect of being on the team is playing against their friends and showcasing their skills.

Rivera says the purpose of the event is to say "thank you" for everything that families have done to put the team together.
