Zaro's Bread Basket in Parkchester received 64 violation

Zaro's Bread Basket in Parkchester received 64 violation points during its last health inspection.

THE BRONX - A popular bakery in Parkchester has been shut down by the city's Health Department.

According to inspectors, Zaro's Bread Basket on Hugh Grant Circle was infested with mice, roaches and filth flies. It racked up 64 violation points this month, compared to 13 during the previous health inspection.

Many longtime customers in the community say they're stunned by the closure.

News 12 The Bronx tried to reach out to owner Joe Zaro, but a worker from his Lexington Avenue location says that he's out of the country.
