THE BRONX - Students at Family Life Academy don?t pile up their lunch plates with greasy cheeseburgers and fries. Instead, they chow down on steamed kale.

The students are part of what the school calls a nutrition revolution. The charter school documented its process in a documentary and book about how it changed its lunchtime fare.

School officials say their commitment to nutrition also extends to the classroom where students are taught about the impact food has on health. Many say they hope that the steps they undertook would become a guide for other schools to change their nutrition plans and encourage healthy eating.
