Heat returns to Monroe Houses after storm

SOUNDVIEW - Tenants in the Monroe Houses in Soundview had their heat turned back on today after losing it during the weekend storm. Residents said they were kept warm by leaving their ovens and stoves on throughout the day. Some said they even put space heaters in each room to fight against the cold. New York City Housing Authority officials said a heating valve in the Monroe Houses' boiler room was turned to the "off" position.
