High school field contaminated from gas plant

THE BRONX - Representatives from Consolidated Edison, Inc. visited St. Raymond?s High School for Boys to inform parents about contamination from a gas plant.

The contamination is below the athletic field and is too deep underground to be harmful. However, the school plans to build an addition that would require drilling.

A Con Ed spokesperson gave the go-ahead on the new addition saying it is far away enough from the site of contamination.
