Highbridge residents: No cooking gas on Thanksgiving

THE BRONX - Cooking a Thanksgiving meal can be a tough task under normal conditions, but this year, tenants of one Highbridge building had to prepare the feast without gas.

Isenia Rodriguez and her sister have been making Thanksgiving dinner in the same kitchen for the last 16 years, but today they had to prepare the entire meal using only a couple of hotplates and a slow cooker.

"My turkey is kind of small this year for nine of us," she says.

Rodriguez and her neighbors at 1369 Nelson Ave. have been living without cooking gas since Oct. 6, and they don't know the cause of the outage. They have been told recently that they will have to get by without gas for another seven months.
