THE BRONX - Organizers hoping to build a museum celebrating hip-hop in the Bronx are attempting to secure a five-acre site to build on.

Craig Wilson, founder and CEO of the Bronx Hip-Hop Museum, says he hopes to build on a plot of land at 149th Street and River Avenue, near Yankee Stadium and the new Gateway Center. Founders hope an interactive museum will draw visitors across the globe to the birthplace of hip-hop.

"It's important for people to understand this is a culture, a way of life," says Wilson.

Organizers say they're working with the borough president to secure a lease for the property. Fundraising is set to being in May. If the property is secured, groundbreaking could take place by the end of the year.
