THE BRONX - New York's finest gathered at police headquarters to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

The NYPD Hispanic Society presented awards to four officers, and one of the honorees works and lives in the Bronx.

Deputy Inspector of Transit District 11 Luis Colon received the leadership award for his service and accomplishments during his 23 years on the job.

Colon said it was a great privilege to be recognized by his colleagues, especially Latinos in the department.
