THE BRONX - Long holiday weekends mean big sales at stores across the country, and people in the Bronx took advantage of those discounts on Monday.

Shoppers lined up outside the Mall at Bay Plaza on Monday morning, waiting for the doors to open so they could get their holiday started.

According to Forbes, this is the perfect time for retailers to clear out their spring and summer merchandise to make room for back-to-school items. Shoppers can expect to find markdowns on products including outdoor gear and beach wear.

Forbes says those looking for deals on electronics, however, are better off waiting for back-to-school season.
