THE BRONX - Bronx residents kicked off the holiday season Saturday by traveling to see the Bronx Zoo?s Holiday Lights.

Now in its eleventh season, the Bronx Zoo?s Holiday Lights illuminates the night with more than half a million twinkling lights and larger-than-life lighted animal, dinosaur and holiday sculptures. For many residents, the winter trip to the zoo has become a family tradition.

The zoo also hosts activities for families, such as roasting marshmallows, storytelling and music for all ages. With hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights, many Bronx residents call the display a breathtaking way to celebrate the holiday season.

The Bronx Zoo?s Holiday Lights event runs through Jan. 6
