THE BRONX - If sticking around the borough this holiday weekend, some construction projects on the roads and rails could slow down your travel plans.

Drivers should expect plenty of company on the roads for Labor Day, and it could be a very slow ride together on the Cross Bronx Expressway in both directions. Delays are also expected on the Major Deegan Expressway crossing over the major bridges heading in and out of the city.

While delays may cost you time, the price of gas will cost you more money as the average price for a gallon of gas in New York rises to $3.94. According to AAA, that average is down by 2.7 percent from this time last year.

Alternate side of the street parking rules will be in effect Saturday and Sunday, but will be suspended on Monday, along with meter rules.

There is no weekend track work planned in the Bronx, but the rails are operating on a holiday schedules.
