THE BRONX - After almost a year of hard work building homemade robots, some local students showed off their skills today.

Students from Horace Mann School, along with nearly 400 others from the New York City area, participated in New York University's "Robot Bee."

The First Tech Challenge Regional Championship is a competition filled with technical, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Students say they went through many prototypes and blueprints before figuring out the perfect robot for any task given. Most importantly, the students say they had a fun time that also serves as a learning experience.

The competing teams are vying for a chance to represent the NYC region at the FTC World Championship April 23.
