THE BRONX - Hostos Community College kicked off Puerto Rican Pride Heritage Month with a bang.

Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture hosted multi-Grammy nominated musician Bobby Sanabria and his band to pay tribute to Puerto Rican composer Rafael Hernandez.

Sanabria's 20-piece Multiverse Big Band was joined by 10 members of the Bronx Arts Ensemble string section and three guest vocalists to perform arrangements of Hernandez's music.

The performance opened with the 319th U.S. Army "Statue of Liberty" Band honoring Hernandez's service during World War I.
