THE BRONX - Hundreds of doctors, nurses and other staff may face layoffs now that Montefiore Medical Center has agreed to purchase New York Westchester Square Medical Center, which is under Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The staff members at New York Westchester Square Medical Center say they received a letter saying that they can expect to be laid off sometime in March.

Montefiore says it may rehire some of the employees, but workers say they have heard no talk of a rehiring plan.
