BRONX - Hundreds of friends and family members gathered at Bridges Community Church to pay their respects to the two cousins who died after being pulled from the Bronx River last week.

Wellington Gabin and Erickson Villa, both 13, went for a swim in the Bronx River at Starlight Park last Friday afternoon.

Villa was pronounced dead upon arrival at St. Barnabas Hospital after being pulled out of the river an hour after the search began.

Gabin remained in critical condition most of the weekend, but passed away late Sunday afternoon.

Community Education Council President Ilka Rios says the council has discussed trying to put up a fence at Starlight Park for more than two years.
