Hundreds of BX residents take part in Environmental Day

HUNTS POINT - Dozens of Bronx residents spent the day Saturday taking a free scenic tour of the Bronx River, as part of Bronx Week's Environmental Day.

The program, Rock the Boat, is an annual event to teach local teens how to row and craft boats. Young children also had the opportunity to design and make their own wooden sailboats.

The festivities also included face painting and dozens of arts and crafts activities.

Rock the Boat will also host its annual boat launch on June 4, where a 19-foot sailboat that students built over six months will be launched from the banks of the Bronx River.
