THE BRONX - The windy weather didn't stop hundreds from competing Sunday in the Down & Dirty Obstacle Race in Orchard Beach.

Participants completed a 6-mile obstacle course through the woods and along the shore of Pelham Bay Park.

The race ended with a plunge into the freezing waters of the Long Island Sound.

Many participants who spoke with News 12 say they're thankful the rain stopped Saturday, because any more of it would have made the course uncomfortably muddy and slippery.
