THE BRONX - The New York Organic Fertilizer Company in Hunts Point will be shut down.

Environmentalists and residents say they are overjoyed that the plant will finally be closed. For years the factory has been taking almost half the city's waste and processing it into fertilizer pellets.

Residents say the plant has been a major health concern. They believe it may be to blame for several asthma cases in the area.
