Hunts Point residents fight against proposed strip club

THE BRONX - Hunts Point neighbors are speaking out in an effort to stop a new gentlemen's club from opening in their neighborhood.

The controversy began in November when developers sought Community Board 2's approval for the club in a building that has been vacant for years, but the board overwhelmingly voted against it .

The owner, Monique Dawson, requested a letter to support the club's application for a liquor license. Dawson and her lawyers also allegedly presented the board with a petition signed by 400 residents in favor of the establishment.

Dawson argues the strip club would create more than 50 needed jobs, including dancers and security guards.
