Hunts Point residents get hotline help for stench

HUNTS POINT - Neighbors of a Hunts Point fertilizing company who have been complaining about a foul odor in the area can now call a hotline with complaints.

The hotline became available to residents today and one neighbor says she's already called to complain about the smell.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation created new regulations requiring the company to create a hotline for residents to call. Engineers who answer the phones are then required to go to the area of complaint within 30 minutes of the phone call to investigate.
