HUNTS POINT - The state Department of Environmental Conservation has created a hotline for Hunts Point residents to register complaints about a local fertilizer plant.

Local residents have long complained about the stench emanating from the Oak Point Avenue plant, which turns sewage into fertilizer.

The company must now hire a team of independent engineers to investigate neighborhood complaints within a one-mile radius of the plant.

The hotline number, which can be called as of May 6, is 1-800-679-6676
