Hunts Point residents without water in heat wave

HUNTS POINT - Residents in Hunts Point have not had running water for days in the current heat wave.

The city?s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) says two fire hydrants are the cause of the local water issues.

One resident has complained that she does not have any water coming from her shower and has to keep water in pots and pans next to the sink. Another resident, who has diabetes, says she needs water to prepare her meals and now needs to go out in the heat to buy food.

A local Laundromat has put up a sign saying its water pressure is too low to wash.

The DEP says the situation is improving.
