THE BRONX - The husband of a woman stabbed at the Mott Haven Houses last week believes the attack was done at random.

Patrick Sotomayor says his wife was visiting friends Friday when she noticed a man following her through the building's back door. Sotomayor says the man following his wife pulled out a rusty knife and stabbed her 28 times in the head, back and chest.

Authorities say the 35-year-old victim has been recovering at an undisclosed hospital since the attack and underwent multiple surgeries. The woman was not robbed.

One clue as to the identity of the suspect could come from security cameras recently installed at the Willis Avenue Housing Project. Sotomayor has seen the video and the NYPD confirms to News 12 The Bronx that it has the footage.
