THE BRONX - Drivers are in for a weeklong traffic nightmare as crews shut down the Hutchinson River Parkway Bridge.

The Department of Transportation is re-decking the bridge, which spans Boston Road, but expects work to be complete by Saturday.

Vehicles traveling on the Hutch in either direction will be detoured near Exit 7 onto local roads through the Bronx to I-95.

A media spokesperson for AAA spoke about the detour, calling it a "car-pocalypse" for commuters.
