THE BRONX - Local Hyundai dealerships are revving up the fight against childhood cancers.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels made a big $250,000 donation to the Children's Hospital at Montefiore for its pediatric cancer research. The program collects donations from every local Hyundai dealer, and that money is matched by Hyundai Motor America.
Kids being treated at the Bronx hospital did their part to spread awareness and celebrate the gift by placing colorful painted handprints all over a new Hyundai car.
Hyundai says each handprint represents a child that has battled or is battling cancer, and it wants to raise more than $100 million by 2015 to make sure there are fewer handprints.
