Ice storm moving in on the Bronx

THE BRONX - City officials were racing throughout the day Tuesday in preparation for a big ice storm moving in on the Bronx.

At the MTA, a spokesperson says crews have been working to de-ice trains and put chains on bus tires. The agency is advising commuters to check their website for delays before heading out for their morning commute.

The Department of Sanitation will be out in full force as crews work overtime to keep streets safe. The department says 365 salt spreaders will be dealing with icy roadways overnight.

Con Edison also says heavy ice accumulation could cause power outages. They are advising all residents to report downed wires immediately and not to go near them.
