THE BRONX - Icy road conditions may be to blame for causing a car to plunge over a barrier on the Cross Bronx Expressway extension at the Bruckner Interchange.
According to police, Carlos Broadbelt was driving with his wife when he skid on ice and snow lining the roadway while reportedly trying to avoid a pothole. The vehicle careened off the highway and landed on a service road below at around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Officials say the couple suffered non-life threatening injuries, and a third person in a separate car was also hurt. All three are recovering at Jacobi Medical Center.

Drivers say the roads are in bad shape and need to be cleaned up before a similar accident happens again.
