NEW YORK - The Independent American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) conducted its annual survey of the travel and dining industries, and it has consumer top picks to help with your summer travel plans.

When it comes to flying, the survey found passengers were happier for a second straight year, and were most satisfied with the ease of making a reservation and the check-in process. For specific airlines, JetBlue was the leader of the pack with satisfied jet setters, while Southwest flew close behind.

Once off the plane, ACSI says the check-in and reservation processes scored the best for hotel goers, but guests were least satisfied with the quality of food available at their hotels.

Americans love eating out, and big-name chains such as the Olive Garden and Red Lobster edged out the competition this year. For travelers eating on the go, Subway topped the list for limited-service restaurants.
