THE BRONX - Investigators believe they have identified the suspect wanted in Monday’s hit-and-run crash that left a 50-year-old woman in critical condition.

Investigators say their suspect is 25-year-old Alex Hernandez.

Christina Aybar was struck by the driver at East 138th Street and Bruckner Boulevard while she was crossing with a group of friends. Witnesses and family say the driver put his vehicle in reverse and struck her a second time before fleeing the scene.

Police say they are in contact with Hernandez’s lawyer and hope he will turn himself in.
