THE BRONX - Italian-Americans flooded East 187th Street Saturday afternoon to pay homage to Saint Anthony.

They honored the saint by carrying an 8-ton wooden structure called a giglio to celebrate the patron saint of lost items.

The 60-foot giglio is only part of the tradition. Since Saint Anthony was known for charity, many people pin money on his statue as a dedication and to ask for blessings.
