THE BRONX - Two suspected gang members accused of killing a Bronx man more than four years ago pleaded not guilty to murder charges Tuesday.

Jose Rodriguez and Jesus Reyes are accused of killing 22-year-old Hansell Arias outside a Claremont McDonald's restaurant in 2012. Both have been charged with second-degree murder and are alleged to be members of the Trinitarios gang.

Prosecutors say Rodriguez confessed to punching the victim. They accuse Rodriguez of taking a knife from Reyes and stabbing Arias in the chest after asking the victim about his own gang affiliation.

Both suspects were held without bail. They are due back in court Sept. 5.

Police initially arrested Enger Javier in connection with the slaying. He was held for two years on Rikers Island before DNA evidence led a judge to drop the charges against him. As News 12 has reported, the victim's family supported Javier's release.
