MELROSE - An NYPD officer stationed in the Bronx has been arrested for allegedly using his uniform to aid in more than 100 robberies.

Officer Jose Tejada is accused of helping a violent gang with robberies totaling up to $1 million in cash and 250 kilos of cocaine. Tejada allegedly gave out police gear to help get the jobs done, let suspects use his apartment and used the police database to avoid arrests.

He has been charged with robbery conspiracy, conspiracy to distribute drugs and using and carrying a firearm in relation to the aforementioned robbery and drug charges.

Tejada is not the first officer to be charged in connection with the case. Another cop and an auxiliary officer were previously convicted, along with 19 associates.

Tejada is facing charges related to armed robbery and narcotics trafficking.
