Julio Romano-Baez arrested for alleged wrong-way driving at 113 mph on I-87

Cops say the 33-year-old led police on a chase and took off on foot after crashing into a guardrail. (1/27/14)

THE BRONX - A Bronx man was arrested after allegedly going 113 mph while driving in the wrong direction on I-87. 

According to authorities, Julio Romano-Baez was also traveling without headlights on in the dark when he led police on a chase early Sunday morning. 

The 33-year-old ended up crashing into a guardrail, but then took off on foot into the woods, forcing police to bring in a K-9 unit to track him down.

Romano-Baez is being charged with reckless endangerment and fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
