MELROSE - A double shooting has left one man dead and another hospitalized early this morning in Melrose.

Police say that 26-year-old Karshon Brooks from Brooklyn died after being shot several times in the chest. The other victim was wounded and has not been identified.

Police say they got a 911 call at around 3 a.m., reporting someone had been shot on Park Avenue near East 158th Street. Upon arrival, police say they found Brooks with gunshot wounds to the chest, shoulder and torso. A 21-year-old man shot in the leg was also found nearby.

Brooks and the other victim were taken to Lincoln Hospital, where Brooks was pronounced dead on arrival. The other victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say no arrests have been made yet.
