THE BRONX - Thirty-five kids became citizens of the United States this morning at a ceremony held at the Bronx Zoo.

Family members gathered at the Bronx Zoo to cheer on the children whose ages spanned from 20 months to 17 years old. Parents who attended say they're excited to give their kids a fresh start.

More than 14 countries from around the world were represented in the ceremony. During the ceremony, local officials talked to the kids about the importance and responsibility of becoming a citizen.

Afterward, the children and their families got a free pass to spend the rest of the day at the Bronx Zoo.
