THE BRONX - A large branch crashed down at Van Cortlandt Park and nearly hit a pedestrian who was watching children play.

No one was injured.

Witnesses say the incident could have been much worse, as parkgoers were nearby. They were thankful, however, that the branch fell into the street where no one was walking.
