Large sinkhole causes safety concerns

THE BRONX - Residents are complaining about a 4-foot-wide sinkhole that they say has been growing after recent storms.

The sinkhole, located at 888 East 169th St., is full of trash and even rats, according to residents, who want it fixed before someone falls in.

Neighbors say that someone has been illegally dumping trash into the sinkhole for months. News 12 The Bronx called the Department of Transportation, which sent an inspector over to look at the sinkhole.

The inspector says the owner of the property will be given 10 days to fix it, and if nothing happens, the city will make the repair. However, the Buildings Department says the property is vacant.
